Okoluu (Ethiopia)
Relation: This coffee comes from the Okoluu Farmer’s Group, a group of 33 coffee producers who deliver their cherry to the Okoluu Washing Station. They were then sourced by Ture Waji and his family-owned company, Sookoo Coffee, who specialise in uniquely natural processing, and who work specifically with small farmer groups, with a focus on elevating the standard of coffee in the Guji region.
Cafe: This coffee represents what we love about natural Guji coffees, full-bodied candy sweetness with a lingering, viscous texture. This particular coffee stands out from its cohort thanks to its clean tropical fruit acidity and complex lavender aromas. All of this together makes it a perfect candidate for a bright espresso or even a full-bodied filter.
Project: Guji has gained significant attention as a coffee growing region in the last 10 years, as greater efforts in traceability have been made to distinguish between the various regions of Ethiopian coffee production.
This is our fourth consecutive year of working with Sookoo Coffee, through our importing partners at Sucafina Specialty. The work that Ture Waji has been doing to elevate the standard of natural Guji coffee has been reflected in the samples that show up better and better, year after year, and makes our decision to work with Sookoo an obvious one.
